Welcome!
Here's Picco, catching fish -- supplementing with Omega 3s, that is. Picco is an excellent advocate for Do-It-Yourself healthcare, that is for using nutraceuticals to prevent and treat illness. He thinks for himself, and is not afraid to bark at an inhumane vet. People should learn from dogs, and go by their instincts more often.
On this site, you will find some of the in-depth articles I wrote as a freelance health reporter, as well as informative links on Complementary and Alternative Medicine, or naturopathic medicine. This site is about Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM), which means 'medicine that does the most good for the least harm.' You will find here articles supporting various alternative medical systems, such as homeopathy, acupuncture, functional medicine, and orthomolecular medicine.
From this site, you may also purchase nutraceuticals that go by the EBM precepts, such as GNLD products and homeopathics and herbs from trusted manufacturers. I also sell selected alternative medicine devices using Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), with continuous and pulsed electromagnetic fields which I find to be the ultimate in medical self-care ( magnet therapy).
"The following custom seems to me the wisest of their institutions next to the one lately praised. They [Ed.Note: the Babylonians] have no physicians, but when a man is ill, they lay him in the public square, and the passers-by come up to him, and if they have ever had his disease themselves, or have known of any one who has suffered from it, they give him advise, recommending him to do whatever they found good in their own case, or in the case known to them; and no one is allowed to pass the sick man in silence, without asking him what his ailment is."

What are nutraceuticals?
They are substances of plant or animal origin that are believed to have a beneficial role in the metabolism of mammals, fish, and birds.
Some nutraceuticals, such as plant flavonoids, have been studied intensly with modern scientific tools, others are just known to have therapeutic action from oral transmission or written historical records. |

GREEN POWER JUICER - The basics of self-healthcare: phytochemicals
The mainstay of self-healthcare, I believe, is owning a powerful extractor of phytochemicals from plants. Evolution-wise plants have been hiding the better of the life-saving phytochemicals inside their most unaccessible hard, fibrous parts. Over millenia humans have accessed these nutrients through alcohol extraction, fermentation, and boiling, and turned them into liquids and pills. A powerful, high speed exctractor like the Green Power makes phytochemicals accessible, and preserves the live enzymes as well. A single plant food or herb might contain dozens of such compounds. Read about some of the most beneficial ones in my articles Flavonoids and Phytochemicals. One of my favorite expert in phytochemicals is Tom Wu, N.M.D., PhD. Dr. Wu combines TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) with modern science, and cures illness using only nutritional approaches.
